Acton Boxborough Regional High School offers the following courses in Graphic Design:

Computer-Aided Graphic Design I

Grades: 9-12, Grouping: Heterogeneous
Pre-Requisites: None
Students of Computer-Aided Graphic Design I will learn to use professional-level software to create a variety of graphic design projects. Students will learn to use Adobe Photoshop for image editing and Adobe Illustrator for drawing, graphic creation, and type work. Students will explore the potential of page layouts with Adobe InDesign. Introduction to the work of contemporary graphic designers, typography, as well as the creative process of brainstorming, designing & revising will be covered in this semester course. Lessons offer opportunities to create unique, practical, and original graphic designs using type and images generated by computer software. Projects might include the creation of posters, logos and other graphic communications. An exploration of graphic design’s expressive potential will be a theme throughout the course. Computer-Aided Graphic Design II

Grades: 9-12, Grouping: Heterogeneous
Pre-Requisites: Computer-Aided Graphic Design I with a minimum grade of B-
Students must have passed Computer-Aided Graphic Design I with a B- or better to enroll in this course. Students of Computer-Aided Graphic Design II will continue to learn new Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign techniques while creating a variety of original designs and artworks. Students will work on independent and assignment-based projects in order to further explore the graphic design process. They will explore the role and responsibility of the graphic designer while becoming more familiar with the professional design field and its practitioners.
Semester course, 5 times per week, 2.5 credits
